Vaccination clinic

The vaccination outpatient clinic is headed by Dr. Hedwig Roggendorf, who has been awarded the Hufeland-Price in 2012 for her outstanding achievements in vaccination. Embedded within the PrevenTUM structure, the vaccination outpatient clinic (link) provides comprehensive counseling for questions on vaccination and travel medicine. It is engaged in clinical studies to improve efficacy of prophylactic vaccinations.

Vaccination is one of the most successful areas of preventive medicine to prohibit infectious diseases. The Ständige Impfkommission (Opens external link in new windowSTIKO) of the Robert Koch Institute regularly adapts its recommendation for vaccinations to meet the challenges to  people at all age groups posed by continuously evolving infectious pathogens.

The most important challenge in vaccination is the development of therapeutic vaccines that allow to control or clear chronic infections. Together with the vaccination outpatient clinic, the groups at the Institute of Molecular Immunology attempt to develop novel vaccination strategies to ultimately achieve such therapeutic vaccination against already established chronic infections.
